The Penman Manufacturing Co. operated a set of knitting mills during the 19th and early 20th centuries in Paris. The company began when John Penman opened a mill on the Nith River. He would eventually open a second mill on the Nith and another along William Street, and generated so much business that he was the largest employer in the town.
